Cuban Dissident "Antunez" Writes a Letter to President Obama

In her blog Sunrise in Havana, Zumara discusses various topics relating to Cuba, autism and human rights across the world. In this post she asks that we distribute Antunez' letter to all who will read it. It is just one more example of the human rights violations the Cuban people have suffered and will continue to suffer as long as Democracy, the rule of law and common decency fail to exist on the island. I ask you to read this man's letter and share it with others.
Mr President, I write to you from Cuba, this small Caribbean island, Jorge Luis García Pérez "Antúnez", one of the thousands of former political prisoners in Cuban prisons who suffered torture and all forms of repression by the prison guards in their inordinate desire to destroy and break our will to struggle and resist.

  2. Hello I read the letter and I feel sorry for the author who had been treated badly.

On the other hand, I think the USA should not interfere with internal affairs of other countries. There is a lot to do in the USA, to maintain democracy. Only think of the election procedures, the faulty counting machines, the deliberate exclusion of voters, the two political party system which provide no real change in politics and Guantanamo....

I know that the citizens of the USA are fine people, who love peace, who work hard and who wants democracy with their whole heart, so lets say there may be a certain loss of values and intention from the citizens up to the higher spheres of political office.

I think Democracy will eventually be built by the people of cuba themselves.

If cuba would be helped to gain more prosperity, civil rights would improve too. It is poverty and lack that provide the best conditions for regimes.

    Happy blogging
